Here, and In a parallel passage in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus speaks to the senselessness of worrying about material things. He uses the fitting imagery of birds and wild flowers and how God cares for them and they don’t worry or scrap and fight for the things they need. If God cares for animals and flowers that are here today and thrown out tomorrow, and gives them such beauty and care — how much more will he take care of our needs. Today and in the days ahead begin to watch birds. No, you don’t have to join a bird watching club, but just begin to pay attention to them. You are worth infinitely more to God and you can trust his love and care.
