Day 21Read Luke – Chapter 21
Think about…
The thing that stood out to me in this reading of chapter 21 was verse 34: “Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, like a trap.” (NLT)
Have you ever waited so long for something, that your heightened expectation started to wane and you got distracted by life and gradually stopped anticipating or even caring about the thing you once focused on? Jesus warned his followers then that they needed to stay alert, faithful and hopeful for his return. His words ring true for us, too, as we wait for his return. Most of us probably don’t have hearts dulled by carousing and drunkenness, but day-to-day worries? Maybe that hits closer to home. How can you prepare and stay vigilant, anticipating when he comes again to finish his work making all things new, not getting discouraged or distracted in the wait?
