Day 24Read Luke – Chapter 24
Think about…
In this last reading in the Gospel of Luke we see the triumphant and risen Christ. We started the month with the birth of Christ, we saw his life and death, and now we celebrate with the disciples that he has risen from the dead.
As we have celebrated the season of Advent, we have looked back to the first coming of Christ when he was born in Bethlehem. He humbled himself and wrapped himself in flesh so that we might be able to know God. He truly became our Emmanuel, God with us. One important thing we must keep in mind as we end the Gospel of Luke and the season of Advent is that we have not come full circle yet. We are still waiting but this time we are waiting for the second coming of Christ. The second time he comes he will come with power and authority and every knee will bow and call him Lord. The story is not over, we look forward to his coming again. We all know that life is difficult; sometimes it seems downright impossible. In the midst of good times and bad remember that even while we wait for the second coming of Christ we do not wait alone. God has sent the Holy Spirit so that we might wait with anticipation, empowerment and joy. We thank God for this wonderful Gospel message in Luke and celebrate our Savior.
